Paneer or cottage cheese is often used in Indian cooking to prepare a variety of sweets and curries. Today’s recipe is a very simple recipe of peda made using paneer. You can prepare the paneer at home or use the ready made paneer for making this sweet.
Ingredients
1 tbsp vinegar/ lime juice
3 tbsp milk powder
10 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
3 tbsp ghee
½ tsp cardamom powder
2 to 3 tbsp sliced pistachios
- Boil milk in a pan and add vinegar.
- Cook for a few minutes in medium flame till the milk separates from the whey.
- Switch off the gas and allow it to cool.
- Strain the milk using a muslin cloth and drain out all the excess water.
- Take the paneer and sugar in a mixer and grind to a paste.
- Heat ghee in a thick bottomed pan, and transfer the paneer - sugar mix to it.
- Add milk powder and cardamom powder and cook for 5 to 10 minutes while stirring continuously.
- When it leaves the sides of the pan and slightly thickens, switch off the gas and allow the mix to cool.
- Grease your hands and plate with oil and form circular or square pedas. Garnish with sliced pistachios and serve.
