Bottle gourd halwa or lauki ka halwa is a lip smacking sweet that can be cooked using very few ingredients. It is easy to prepare and tastes delicious.
2 bottle gourds (skin and seeds removed and grated)
2 cups milk
4 tbsp sugar (or to taste)
3 tbsp ghee
chopped cashews and almonds
Method
- Melt ghee in a pan, add grated bottle gourds and sauté for a few minutes till the raw smell goes.
- Now add milk and bring to a boil.
- Continue cooking till all the milk has been absorbed and the bottle gourd is soft and cooked.
- Now add sugar and mix well.
- Cook for a few minutes till ghee starts separating.
- Garnish with chopped nuts on top and serve hot.
