Bread is a versatile food and you can make different types of delicacies with it. From french toast to sandwiches to upmas and even sweets, bread in any form tastes delicious. I have shared several recipes of bread in my blog and in this post I am going to share a savoury version of french toast the way we make at home.
3 eggs
7 slices of bread
Salt to taste
1 tsp red chilli powder
Pinch of black pepper powder
Finely chopped coriander leaves
1 onion thinly sliced (optional)
Oil for cooking
Method
- Crack open the eggs in a bowl and whisk well with a fork or beater till the yolk and whites are well mixed.
- Add red chilli powder, pepper powder, salt, coriander leaves and onions and mix well.
- Heat a non stick pan and add one or two tsps of oil.
- Take the bread slices and cut each into 2 triangles.
- Take one triangle and dip in the egg mix and nicely coat the bread on both sides.
- Carefully transfer it to the pan and cook on both sides till golden brown in colour.
- Transfer to a plate.
- In the same way prepare the remaining toasts.
- Serve hot with tomato ketchup.
